Issue/Introduction

When attempting to assign a default search to a user role,

the message appears:  You are not authorized to select this search as your default.

Environment

CA Asset Portfolio Management 14.1, any patch level

Cause

The user role was not specified as having permission, under the 'search security' section.

Also, the user role may not have permission to view fields that exist in the search.  The user role may be governed by a local or global configuration where the fields are hidden and not accessible.

Resolution

1.  Edit the search and make sure the user role is added under the 'Search Security' section.

2.  Edit the search and verify that the user role has permission to view all the fields that exist in the search.  View the local and global configurations that govern this user role and check to see if the fields are hidden.  If the fields are hidden in a configuration, then remove the field from the search, or make the fields visible in the configuration.
