• Hardware management console (e.g., Dell iDRAC) shows the physical slot as empty.
• No recent log entries in ESXi indicating a drive removal event.

Environment

• VMware VSAN 8.x

Cause

• The disk appears physically missing from the server slot, resulting in a lack of detection at the hardware layer and subsequent absence in the ESXi storage stack.

     

Resolution

Engage the hardware vendor to investigate the missing drive from the physical server slot
