Security Group Membership Error Code 9611 During NSX Component Removal

Issue/Introduction

The removal of NSX network components stalls on hosts. The process returns a Security Group Membership Error (Code 9611). The error indicates that the LogicalSwitch ID <UUID> tied to compute collection <UUID>:<domains_REDACTED> remains a member of a security group.

Environment

VMware NSX 

Cause

vSphere-backed portgroups are configured as members within existing Distributed Firewall (DFW) security groups.

Resolution

1. Verify that the Distributed Firewall (DFW) rules are set to ALLOW.
2. Review the existing security groups in the environment.
3. Remove all vSphere-backed portgroup members from the security groups.
4. Proceed with the uninstallation of the NSX network components from the hosts.
