The VNA installation fails because the Java checking routine uses an unqualified path for the alternatives command to verify Java 17 ․
ERROR MESSAGE: "Java check is failing on the system"
SYMPTOMS:
The Java checking routine performs a check using the alternatives command ․
The installation is executed via sudo using a non-root account ․
The non-root account does not have direct access to /sbin where alternatives is located ․
CONTEXT: This occurs during any installation or upgrade of VNA ․
IMPACT: VNA upgrades cannot be completed without a workaround ․
The installer assumes the alternatives command can be run without a full path ․ Due to security lockdowns, /sbin or /usr/sbin is not in the default path for non-root users ․
The resolution for this issue is currently targeted for DX NetOps 25.4.7
