Issue/Introduction

Problem:

When doing a base install of CA Verify for CICS release r 9.0. The receive step fails with DATA SET SMPETEMP.CEQC900.F1 NOT ALLOCATED.  A Dataset with an HLQ of SMPETEMP is  failing when it is dynamically allocated.

Environment:

Z/OS

CICS

Cause:

During the receive processing CA Verify for CICS dataset sets are dynamically allocated by SMPE as part of the receive process. In this case dataset SMPETEMP.CEQC900.F1 was being dynamically allocated. Since the SMPETEMP HLQ was not a valid HLQ  on the clients LPAR the user received a dynamic allocation failure and the receive job ended with a return code of 12. The following messages were displayed.

12:17:33 IGD17102I CATALOG ERROR IN DEFINING NONVSAM DATA SET

12:17:33 SMPETEMP.CEQC900.F1

Resolution:

Review the CA Verify for CICS install JCL member ELT3CSI. JCL member ELT3CSI allocates the SMPCSI dataset and sets up the SMP environment. In this member do a find for DSPREFIX. The DSPREFIX parameter should be set to a valid HLQ on your LPAR. The DSPREFIX  value-HLQ is used by SMPE to dynamically allocate the SMP/E datasets required to receive the product. The default setting for DSPREFIX is DSPREFIX(SMPETEMP).

The DSPREFIX can be updated by using the TSO ISPF  SMP/E PRIMARY OPTION MENU.
