Issue/Introduction

The following log is being output in .vmsyslogd.err:

vmsyslog logger [syslog server] lost xxxxx log messages


The following logs are frequently output in the vmkernel logs:

Transient status for command 0x6 set to VMK_STORAGE_RETRY_OPERATION because of an abort/reset before the command timed out

As a result of the investigation from the disk vendor's perspective, a disk failure has been confirmed.

Environment

ESXi 8.0.3

Cause

Due to the disk failure, a large volume of vmkernel logs is being output, causing some syslog transfers to fail.

Resolution

Resolve the disk failure from the disk vendor's perspective.
