Issue/Introduction

When attempting to manage or upgrade hosts using vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) in environments integrated with the Dell OpenManage Enterprise Integration for VMware vCenter (OMEVV) plugin, the following compatibility error may be encountered :

Supported ESXi Versions 8.0.0, 8.0.1, 8.0.2, 8.0.3, 9.0.0 - The currently selected ESXi version (version 9.0.1.0.24957456) is not supported.

The Hardware Support Manager (HSM) may fail to validate the image or the firmware compliance check.

Cause

This error originates from a parsing failure within the Dell OMEVV catalog metadata.

The presence of unsupported or special characters within the designated catalog file prevents proper interpretation by the plugin, leading to the error in vLCM.

Resolution

Engage Dell Support to generate a corrected catalog file without the unsupported or special characters.

After creating the corrected catalog, upload it to the Dell OpenManage Enterprise environment, refer How to Deploy Firmware using OpenManage Enterprise for VMware vCenter

On vCenter Server :

  1. Log in to the vSphere Client using administrator credentials.

  2. Navigate to the Inventory and select the target Cluster.

  3. Select the Updates tab.

  4. Create the image with Firmware Add-on.

  5. Click Check Compliance
