VM provisioned from a specific template does not display network interface, host details on the VCF Automation UI.

Issue/Introduction

When viewing the details of a provisioned Virtual Machine in the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Automation UI, the network and host information fields are empty.

This issue is observed when navigating through the following path:

• Build and Deploy > [Namespace] > Services > Virtual Machine > [Select a VM] > VM Details

 

Environment

VCFA 9.0

Cause

This issue occurs because VMware Tools is not installed on the virtual machine template used to provision the VM. VMware Tools is required to collect guest operating system data (such as IP routing and host information) and report it back to the underlying virtualization platform and VCF Automation UI.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must install VMware Tools on the source template.
