Issue/Introduction

When performing a file transfer (FT) from a Windows machine to an AS/400 machine, one complete line is purged (missing) from the target file.

  • The file transfer job successfully executes and completes with a status of "OK".

  • The source file on the Windows machine is intact, but the target file on the AS/400 is missing a complete line.

  • The issue typically occurs when transferring files between systems with two different codepages.

  • The missing data causes a significant business impact as the corrupted files are processed incorrectly in subsequent automated tasks.

Environment

  • Product: CA Automic Workload Automation - Automation Engine

  • Affected Components: Windows Agent and AS/400 Agent

  • Affected Versions: 24.2.x through 24.4.2 HF3

  • Last Known Working Version: Agent Version 21

Cause

This issue has been identified as a software defect and is tracked internally under Defect ID: DE181318

Resolution

Workaround: Until a permanent fix is applied, the accepted workaround is to downgrade or continue using the Version 21 Agent for these specific file transfers, as this version handles the cross-platform codepages properly without dropping lines.

Permanent Resolution: The software defect (DE181318) has been tagged as a mandatory release item and is targeted to be fixed in the following upcoming product milestones:

  • Automation Engine 24.4.5 - TBA
