Spectrum OLB failing on secondary with no RCPD.OUT generated

Issue/Introduction

Online Backup (OLB) on Windows based DSS not working, with no RCPD.OUT being generated on the secondary SpectroSERVER (SS). However, backup is successfully created on the primary SS.

When looking at the Windows Event log, the rcpd.exe process has an exit state of 0x0:

 

Environment

Spectrum Distributed SpectroSERVER (DSS) all currently supported releases

Cause

The spectrum user name was added to the .hostrc file after Spectrum was installed with a different user, as seen in the Spectrum Control Panel (SCP) -> Host Security Dialog:

This meant that RCPD was starting with a different user to spectrum on the Secondary but only "spectrum" user was allowed in the user list.

Resolution

Remove spectrum user for all affected landscapes from the .hostrc user list using the SCP window. This should resolve the issue.
