ESXi host offline and logs report fnic errors

Issue/Introduction

One or more ESXi hosts show as "disconnected" in vCenter Server. The following facts apply to this issue:
- Cisco UCS blades are in use as ESXi hosts
- UCS Manager reports link down errors for the affected blade(s)
- On the ESXi host, the vmkernel log reports error loglines as follows:
2026-03-03T19:06:44.757Z Wa(180) vmkwarning: cpu90:#######)WARNING: nfnic: <1>: fnic_fw_reset_handler: 312: Issued fw reset 
- Additionally, the following logline can also be seen in the vmkernel log:
2026-03-02T21:56:26.248Z Wa(180) vmkwarning: cpu44:#######)WARNING: nenic: _vnic_dev_cmd2:365: 0000:62:00.3:Timed out devcmd 4

Environment

Cause

This issue is caused as a result of underlying hardware issues. 

Resolution

Contact the hardware vendor for further troubleshooting.
