Configure SMTP Server Authentication

Issue/Introduction

• Penetration testing identifies that SMTP authentication is inactive.
• SMTP server allows unauthenticated mail relay.

Environment

MnR|Watch4net - 7.x

Resolution

PREREQUISITES:

• Access to the MnR Admin User Interface (UI).

• Administrative permissions to modify configuration settings.

• Valid SMTP server credentials (if using SSL/TCL).

Steps to configure SMTP Server Authentication:

1. Navigate to the configuration menu in the Admin UI.

   CONFIG --> Settings --> SMTP Settings

2. Enter the required server details and select the appropriate authentication mode.

   1. Provide the SMTP Server address and Port.

   2. Select the Authentication mode (e.g., SSL/TLS or Basic or no auth).
      

   3. Enter the From Address.

3. Save the changes and restart Tomcat for changes to take effect.
