  • The VM Summary page in vSphere Client displays the error: "This Virtual Machine is placed on multiple remote datastores. This configuration is not supported!"

  • Both vSAN Clusters are part of same vCenter appliance.

  • VM's datastore tab indicates there are two datastore mapping to the impacted VM.

Cause

The VM is confirmed to be running healthily on a different vSAN cluster (e.g., PROD01), but phantom references remain in the source vSAN cluster (e.g., Test-MGMT).

Resolution

Note : Before following the below steps ensure there is a good backup of your impacted VM.
