Issue/Introduction

When powering on a Windows Server 2016 VM, the guest OS does not load - instead this error is displayed almost immediately after power on -

An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

A reboot of the VM does not resolve the issue.

Environment

VCF 5.2.0.0

Cause

There is an issue with either the GUID Partition Table (GPT) or the Master Boot Record (MBR) (depending on what the disk is set to) in the guest OS.
