Cloud Proxy VM failing to deploy through Aria Operations

VCF Operations VMware Aria Operations (formerly vRealize Operations) 8.x

Issue/Introduction

Following errors on Guest will be observed while trying to deploy Cloud Proxy either through Aria Operations or direct OVA deployment over ESXi -

  • Failed to decode OTK: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0x9e in position 0: invalid start byte. CPRC will not be properly configured.

 

  • VMware Aria Operations Cloud Appliance
    NO NETWORK DETECTED. CPRC FIRSTBOOT IS FAILED. PLEASE CHECK THE NETWORK CONFIGURATION.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x
VCF Operations 

Cause

Multiple causes for this issue -

  • DNS not reached 
  • Wrong IP used
  • DNS IP not resolving  

Resolution

Check DNS settings and change IP if required and then re-deploy Cloud Proxy VM using steps from the following article-
