Issue/Introduction

The Usage Meter Products page shows "invalid credentials" status for a vCenter instance

Environment

VMware Usage Meter 8.x

VMware Usage Meter 9.x

Cause

The user account configured in Usage Meter for vCenter authentication does not have the required permissions to access vCenter, resulting in authentication failure and preventing data collection from Usage Meter

Resolution

The appropriate permissions will need to be granted to the configured user account on the vCenter side. Once the required privileges are assigned, authentication should be validated again by attempting to log in using the same credentials.

It is recommended to ensure that the user account is assigned the appropriate vCenter Server system roles and permissions required for Usage Meter to successfully connect and collect metering data.
