Issue/Introduction

Issue: 

The log files for CA Output Management Web Viewer for USS are in unreadable. How to view them?   

Environment:  

USS 

Cause: 

They are not readable, because they are ASCII files.  The ASCII requirement is due to JAVA which only runs in ASCII. USS (OMVS) can run code that is ASCII as well as EBCDIC. OEDIT or ISHELL are for EBCDIC and cannot be used to edit ASCII files. 

Resolution:

Use the ISPF Option 3.17 z/OS UNIX directory list utility to work with ASCII files.

NOTE: if you are bringing the file down to your PC, FTP it binary mode.
