Issue/Introduction

The HBJS release 6.93 license key is not your standard CAS9 LMP license. The HBJS(HB.js) release 6.93 license key is stored in PDS member HBR@LICN. The CICS HBPARMS DD dataset points to the PDS that contain PDS member HBR@LICN.

Resolution

Here is how to install a new license key using the HBPARMS dataset.

1) Obtain security access to use the HostBridge transaction HBSM in CICS.

2) Browse your CICS startup JCL for the region where HostBridge is installed, and look for the HBPARMS DD dataset. You should see a dataset defined to DD HBPARMS in the format HLQ.PARMLIB. Take note of the dataset defined to that DD.

3) Edit the HostBridge parmlib member HLQ.PARMLIB(HBR@LICN) (or whatever PDS you have defined to HBPARMS above). Make a backup of member HBR@LICN in the HBPARMS dataset.

4) Add the new key to the top of the key list starting in position one and remove any keys that have already expired.  Do not remove any keys that still work even if they are about to expire. That way, if the new key is bad or has been typed incorrectly, you will still have a good key.

5) Save the member.

6) Sign onto the CICS region where HostBridge is installed.

7) From a cleared screen, type HBSM and press Enter to view the HostBridge Session Monitor primary screen, and select option L (License Key and Version Information) and press the Enter key again.

8) You will need to refresh your system before the new license key takes effect.  To do so, press the PF2 key from the HostBridge Session Monitor License Key Information screen. You should see the message: "License key has been refreshed."

9) Repeat steps 2-8 for each CICS region where HostBridge is installed.
