Issue/Introduction

1. All VMs under certain Network adapter [VLAN_110] are not showing Port Group metric

2. From vSphere UI, navigate to the VM under VLAN_110 and make note of the vm_id from the URL.

For example: https://<vCenterFQDN>/ui/app/vm;nav=h/urn:vmomi:VirtualMachine:vm-17:9f66631a-9771-4298-a85b-xxxxxxxx/summary

3. Open the MOB page of the VM

https://<vCenterFQDN>/mob/?moid=<vm_id>&doPath=config.hardware

4. Navigate device of Type VirtualDevice[For example from above screenshot: device[4000]] > Virtual DeviceBackingInfo > DistributedVirtualSwitchPortConnection > Make note of the portgoupkey [dvportgroup-xxxxx]

  • NOTE :
If BackingInfo is of instance NetworkBackingInfo then deviceName is your portGroup property
If BackingInfo is of instance DistributedVirtualPortBackingInfo  then you need to check associated Port Group's Name property

5.  Verify the dvportgroup-xxxxx, by navigating to the Network Adapter [VLAN_110] in vSphere UI

https://<vCenterFQDN>/ui/app/dvportgroup;nav=n/urn:vmomi:DistributedVirtualPortgroup:dvportgroup-365290:9f66631a-9771-4298-a85b-xxxxxxx/summary

Environment

VMware Aria Operations Version: 8.18.5

Cause

Due to data inconsistency within vCenter, we are seeing this issue in vROPS.

dvportgroup-xxxx is different when checked from vSphere UI and from the MOB UI

Resolution

vCenter team needs to be engaged to fix the data inconsistency.
