Automation Point

Issue/Introduction

The Automation Point (AP) client software installation media contains the AP Listener application in addition to the AP Remote Viewer client. Some users only need the Remote Viewer, not the AP Listener, and would like to stop AP Listener from starting when they boot their client PC.  Users receive frequent popup windows from AP listener which they are not using.

Resolution

If you are using an Administrator account or a Standard User account with Admin rights, then follow these steps to stop AP Listener from starting up whenever you boot your PC.

  1. Open your Windows Start Menu and search for ‘msconfig.exe’
  2. Open msconfig.exe and select the ‘Startup’ tab
  3. Find ‘Automation Point’ in the list and uncheck the box
  4. Click ‘OK’

If you are using only a Standard User Account which is not part of the Administrators group, then you will have to ask the Administrator of your PC to use the steps above to remove Automation Point from Startup.
