I will be installing fresh SMARTS 25.4.5 in our production instance and upgrading existing W4N in our prod env from 7.7 to 7.9.
On upgrade of W4N 7.7->7.9, we will have all the historic and performance data retained in W4N db as per the retention.
The SMARTS device mapping in APM's will be same as old. So when the polling starts from our new instance of W4N will there be any duplication of data in W4N database?
All supported releases of Smarts and Watch4net|M&R
For upgrades, the recommended approach is to either perform an upgrade of both Smarts and M&R or carry out with a complete fresh installation.
A mixed approach, such as fresh installation of Smarts while retaining the existing M&R setup, is not validated and therefore not supported. If you choose to proceed with this path, it should first be thoroughly tested in your non‑production environment to confirm that it does not introduce issues such as data duplication or inconsistencies in M&R.
