Issue/Introduction
After upgrading vCenter Server to version 8.0 Update 3e or later version, a new user account named alarms_script is visible in the Users and Groups section of the vSphere Client under the localos domain:
Environment
VMware vCenter Server 8.0 Update 3e and later
Cause
The addition of the alarms_script user is a normal and expected behavior introduced in vCenter 8.0 Update 3e.
This account was implemented to enhance the stability and security of script execution triggered by vCenter Alarms. vpxd service can execute configured alarm scripts in a more controlled environment.
Resolution
No action is required. This is a system-defined account.
Treat this account as a default system-provided identity for vCenter Server operations.
