Issue/Introduction

This document clarifies the source of metrics for Tanzu Hub when connected to an Elastic-Runtime (EAR) foundation. The specific question is whether Tanzu Hub consumes metrics from metrics-store or app-metrics when the respective tiles are installed.

Resolution

Tanzu Hub's mechanism for metrics ingestion is based on independent scraping of different endpoints.

• The core metrics processing and ingestion is handled by the Platform Services component.
• The system integrates with OTEL (OpenTelemetry) when it is configured on the foundation.

This design allows Tanzu Hub to remain flexible regarding the source of the metrics data it is consuming.
