Issue/Introduction

When user tries to hide vSAN Data Protection 9.0.1.0 in vSAN cluster - Configure - vSAN Data Protection page , the plugin still remains on the UI.

Environment

VMware vSAN 9.x

Cause

  • The plugin fails to be hidden because the vSAN DP plugin has a five-part version number, and vCenter doesn't correctly interpret five-part package versions. This prevent the plugin from being hidden.
  • Note, in the vSphere Client logs  /var/log/vmware/vsphere-ui/logs/, the plugin is reported to be disabled, but the plugin remains visible in the vSphere Client.

####-###.#.#.#-####-exec-### ######## ####### ###### com.vmware.vise.plugin.status.PluginStateProviderImpl Plugin package state for com.vmware.vsan.snapshot.manager.client:#.#.#.# set to disabled.

Resolution

This will be resolved in 8.0.3.0 p09 and next major release of 9.0. Currently there is no workaround other than upgrading to the fixed build.
