Users often need to retrieve performance data such as network bandwidth (Mbps), max usage, and upload/download speeds for an NSX Native Load Balancer Virtual Server. This article clarifies the native capabilities of NSX for live data and the requirements for accessing historical data.
VMware NSX
The NSX Manager’s local database is designed for management and control plane operations. By default, it only retains high-resolution statistics for a short window.
NSX Load Balancer does not store historical statistics; therefore, it is not possible to export historical data from the NSX UI. To extract historical data, you must use a monitoring tool like VMware Aria Operations to retrieve the statistics.
You can retrieve real-time load balancer statistics via the NSX UI or API.
Retrieving Live (Real-Time) Statistics
Live statistics are accessible through the NSX UI, API, or CLI. These represent the immediate state of the Virtual Server (VIP).
A. Via NSX Manager UI
Navigate to Networking > Load Balancing > Virtual Servers.
Expand the virtual server and click the View Statistics icon. You can view live statistics for the virtual server, the server pool, and the server pool members.
