Issue/Introduction

  • VMK#(eg. vmk1) got deleted on Nutanix environment on few or all the hosts.
  • vmk# connected networks lost network connectivity.

Environment

VMWare vSphere ESXi
VMWare vCenter Server

Cause

  • Following an LCM (Life Cycle Manager) framework update via auto-inventory, the vmk# on ESXi hosts was deleted.
  • This occurs because the LCM logic incorrectly identifies vmk1 as a BMC-dedicated port and removes it as part of the standard auto-inventory update workflow in Nutanix environment.
  • This creates a conflict when vmk# is utilized for the internal virtual Nutanix vswitch eg. vSwitchNutanix.

Resolution

This issue impacts Nutanix Clusters with DELL hardware.

Contact Nutanix for the fix.

Workaround:

  • Perform the creation of deleted vmkernel adapter. Reference KB: 410376
