Issue/Introduction

You are unable to successfully download logs from VRMS & SRM (VLR) UI because of these symptoms.

1. From the UI: the export process stays stuck on “Generating…” and does not finish.

2. From the VAMI: the ZIP file is downloaded, but it is empty (13 Bytes).

3. The log bundle is generated successfully; however, the downloaded log results in a corrupted 13-byte file.

Environment

VMware vSphere Replication
VMware Site Recovery Manager
VMware Live Site Recovery
VMware Live Recovery Appliance

Cause

When a browser encounters filename whitespaces, it doesn't wrap the filename in double quotes. The browser sees the first space and assumes the filename has ended, leading to a truncated or corrupted download. The download failed because the system didn't know how to handle the space in the site name. The browser saw the space and thought the filename was finished before it actually was, resulting in an empty, 13-byte file.

The empty space in the name of zip file is preventing it to download the complete file. Browsers consider this to be as the end of file name.

Example: VMware-VRMS-support-Broadcom IT-02_06_2026-07_42_25-PM.zip

Resolution

To fix this, you must remove spaces from the site name naming conventions to ensure smooth downloads across all browsers.

1. Take a normal snapshot of the Appliance

2. Login to the VAMI page and select RECONFIGURE

3. Provide the credentials and accept the certificates.

4. Under Site name, fill the space with hyphen (-) or underscore (_). The modified site name should look like 'Broadcom-IT'

5. Click next and finish the reconfigure wizard.

6. Wait for the reconfiguration complete.

7. Click on DOWNLOAD SUPPORT BUNDLE.

8. Once the DOWNLOAD link is available click on it.

9. The download should complete with an ideal size
