When verifying replication settings, you may observe an unexpected change in the Storage policy for a replication target virtual machine.
Specifically, if you navigate to the "Number of Replications" tab and check the Storage Policy field for the relevant virtual machine, what used to display as "Datastore Default" now displays as "Multiple policies".
If you click "Multiple policies", you will see that the storage policies are inconsistent across the virtual disks.
VMware vSphere Replication 9.0
This display indicates that the virtual disks associated with the target virtual machine currently have varying storage policies applied to them, rather than a single, uniform policy.
Such an inconsistency in storage policies occurs when configuring replication using a replication seed; for example, Extending or expanding VMDKs configured with Enhanced Replication may fail.
To resolve this inconsistency and align the policies, you can reconfigure the replication to modify its Storage Policy settings.
Steps to resolve:
1. Navigate to your Site Recovery UI.
2. Locate the affected virtual machine under your sending/outgoing replications.
3. Select the option to reconfigure the replication for that specific virtual machine.
4. Proceed through the configuration settings to the Storage Policy section.
5. Update the Storage Policy to apply your desired policy uniformly across all disks (such as "Datastore Default").
6. Complete the reconfiguration wizard to save and apply the changes.
