Unable to remove the Aria Operations for Networks endpoint from VCF Usage Meter 9.x

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to remove the Aria Operations for Networks endpoint from the VCF Usage Meter 9.x, the following warning message appears:

"This VCF Operations for networks endpoint is registered and managed as part of VCF Operations fleet management vrlcm:443, so it cannot be unregistered as a standalone product. To delete this product, please log into the VCF Operations fleet management and make any changes you need."

Resolution

To remove the Aria Operations for Networks endpoint from VCF Usage Meter 9.x, follow these steps:

  1. Take a Non-Memory Snapshot:

    • Before proceeding, take a non-memory snapshot of the Usage Meter appliance for backup purposes.

  2. Delete the vrni.json File:

    • SSH into the Usage Meter appliance as "usagemeter" user and run the following command to delete the JSON configuration file associated with Aria Operations for Networks:

      rm -rf /opt/vmware/cloudusagemetering/var/dss/random/vrni.json
  3. Reboot the Usage Meter Appliance:

    • Reboot the appliance to apply the changes.

  4. Validate Endpoint Removal:

    • After the reboot, check to ensure that the Aria Operations for Networks endpoint is no longer listed in the Usage Meter.
