Decommissioned ESXi hosts continue to appear in VMware Aria Operations reports

Issue/Introduction

In VMware Aria Operations, ESXi hosts that have been decommissioned or removed from vCenter Server may continue to populate in reports and inventory views for several weeks. This occurs because the system retains deleted objects for a specific duration based on internal retention policies.

Cause

This is expected behavior.

Resolution

This is expected behavior.  The duration that deleted objects remain in the inventory is governed by the Data Retention settings in the Global Settings configuration. By default, the system retains these objects to preserve historical data for reports and dashboards.
