Issue/Introduction

When you attempt to SNMP polling into your monitoring tool, you receive a "No Such Object" error message․ You can get responses from the Management branch of the MIB, but apnEvents or monitoring point specific queries fail․‌‍

ERROR MESSAGE: "No Such Object"

SYMPTOMS:

  • Management branch queries succeed

  • Monitoring point specific queries fail

  • AppNeta branch of the SNMP MIB does not respond to GET requests

Environment

Environment:

  • AppNeta Monitoring Points (m50, m70, r90, r1000 ..etc)

  • APPNETA-MIB

Cause

The APPNETA-MIB was created to support TRAPS and INFORMS. The monitoring points do not respond to snmp gets in the appneta branch.

Resolution

Management branch queries will succeed while queries to appneta branch will not. The APPNETA-MIB was created to support Traps and Informs (NOTIFICATION-TYPE) rather
than SNMP GET polling․ Although the MIB contains OBJECT-TYPE definitions, these define the variables sent within the various traps․
