Issue/Introduction

  • Error: 
    Current appliance build is higher than that of upgrade bundle
  • TCA upgrade fails due to incorrect version validation

 

Environment

TCA: 3.3.0.1, 3.4

TCP: 5.0.2, 5.1

Cause

  • When upgrading TCA from 3.3.0.1 to 3.4.0, the upgrade validation incorrectly treats the source version (3.3.0.1) as a higher number than the target version (3.4.0),  preventing the installation of RPM packages and causing the upgrade to fail.

Resolution

Workaround

  1. Go to the file /etc/vmware/cap/product.info and change the build_number to lesser than 3.4.0
  2. In /opt/vmware/config/cnva_version.properties, change the build number to lesser number than 3.4.0
