Resolution

This issue is resolved in ESX 9.0.2. Log in to the Broadcom Support Portal to download this patch, depending on the entitlement, VMware vSphere Foundation or VMware Cloud Foundation

As a workaround to proceed with host patching or cluster upgrades, Quick Boot must be bypassed and standard reboots must be utilized:

  • vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM): Navigate to the cluster Updates > Settings > Remediation Settings and clear the Quick Boot checkbox.

  • SDDC Manager (VCF): Ensure Quick Boot is disabled in the cluster update parameters or via the UI prompt during upgrade execution
