VCF Operations/Automation (formerly VMware Aria Suite)

Issue/Introduction

You may observe the following symptoms and context:

  • Adding a vCenter Server succeeds initially, but the vSphere UI subsequently hangs.

  • Attempting to add the same vCenter Server again triggers the UI message: Configuration with specified vCenter Server hostname already exists.

  • Log bundles do not capture specific errors related to this freeze.

  • Aside from the UI freezing, all other functionalities operate normally.

Environment

Aria Operation for Logs 8.18.5

Cause

This issue occurs because a firewall rule prevents full communication between VMware Aria Operations for Logs and the corresponding vCenter Server.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, configure your firewall to allow the required traffic:

  1. Establish a bi-directional firewall rule for TCP port 443.

  2. Ensure this rule allows full communication between VMware Aria Operations for Logs and the corresponding vCenter Server.
