Issue/Introduction

When attempting to perform a Scripted OS install with Ghost Solution Suite using the built in task 'Scripted OS Install' machines in automation don't pick up the task or unexpected results may be noticed

Environment

Ghost Solution Suite 3.3.x

Cause

The built-in Scripted OS Install task is no longer supported for Linux operating systems.

The console UI still has an option for configuring this task for Linux:

However, the task will not work as designed for Linux OS. The task is only supported for Windows OS

Developers are aware the UI still contains this option and will work to remove it in later releases

Resolution

To install a supported Linux OS with Ghost Solution Suite, it is required to use a script task. By default, GSS offers sample scripts for reference which are located in the console 'Jobs' pane under 'Samples' > 'Scripts' > 'Linux' > 'Scripted Red Hat/Oracle Linux install' AND 'Scripted SUSE Linux Enterprise install'

The scripts will need to be modified based on installation needs and the sample scripts are offered as is.

We also offer a few sample Kickstart installation files located on the GSS server eXpress share in the \Samples\Scripted OS Install\Linux directory. These will also need to be modified and are offered as samples only.
