Issue/Introduction

1. Deleting a workload domain fails with error similar to below:

Description

Delete Virtual Machine
Progress Messages Failed to remove VM vCenter01.domain02.domain.local

Error

Message: Failed to remove VM vCenter01.domain02.domain.local

Remediation Message:

Reference Token: ########

Cause: (vim.fault.InvalidLogin) { faultCause = null, faultMessage = null } Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password.

2. You have several workload domains in SDDC environment and your FQDN convention for each WLD is very similar to others, for example such as below:

Management Domain VC:  vCenter01.domain01.example.local

WLD 1 VC: vCenter01.domain02.example.local

WLD 2 VC: vCenter.01.domain03.example.local

3. You find that the service account in the management domain vCenter is removed instead of on the WLD vCenter intended, service account may look like following: [email protected]

Environment

SDDC 5.x

Cause

If two/or more vCenters share the same hostname but have different domain names, this results in duplicate service accounts, and when a workload domain is deleted an incorrect service account may be removed.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VCF 9.0

A fix for SDDC 5.2.x is also planned and will be included in a future release

Workaround:

- Recreate manually the incorrectly deleted service account and continue with the WLD deletion
