Issue/Introduction

  • In addition to the error described above, the SDDC Manager UI also displays an error -

Failed to init PSC and/or Postgres. Check the SDDC Manager UI Server logs for more details.

  • There is a known issue with NTP in the environment, meaning that the SDDC Manager can communicate with the NTP server but the management vCenter cannot.

Environment

VCF 9.0

Cause

  • The root password on the management domain vCenter has expired and is not known.
  • There is a time difference between the SDDC Manager and the management domain vCenter.

Resolution

The issue is expected to be resolved by implementing the resolution steps below.

  • Reset the management vCenter root password using this article:

https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/322247/resetting-root-password-in-vcenter-serve.html

  • Update the SDDC database with this new management vCenter root password using this article:

https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleNumber=389716

  • As a temporary measure, until such time as  the management vCenter can communicate with the NTP server again, run the command below on the management vCenter to sync the time to SDDC:

timedatectl set-time "YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS"
