C++ Connector Server crashing on the W2KNamespace.dll error

Issue/Introduction

 

Error visible in Event Viewer as Application/Application error, Event Id 1000:

Additional error visible in Event Viewer under System/Service Control Manager event Id 7024:

The Symantec Identity Manager - connector Server (C++) service terminated with the following service-specific error:
"The media is write protected"

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5 SP1 CHF1, Remote C++ connector.

Cause

The whole ccs folder contained only log, bin and data folder.

Of which data folder consisted of only one file.

Resolution

Make sure registry entries under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ComputerAssociates\slapd\im_ccs\CurrentVersion

are intact (It should contain 4 entries: Default, ConfigFile, Urls, Version) and procceed.

We suggest to restore ccs machine from backup as this should have least impact.

You may also copy files from the working CCS on different server.

 

 

Additional Information

Make sure to check that disk is not write protected as second error may indicate, using diskpart or similar tool.
