Unable to configure HCX Adapter in Aria Operations, fails with an error as "Query local appliance api failed"

Issue/Introduction

While performing 'Test Connection' On the config page for the HCX adapter Integration in Aria Ops UI, below error is seen,

 

 

The following log entries are observed in the Aria Ops Collector node log file  /storage/logs/vcops/log/collector.log.*

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Aria Operations Management Pack for HCX 5.4

HCX Manager 4.11.x 

Cause

Aria Operations Management Pack for HCX 5.3.x and lower have this issue as these Management Packs for HCX does not support the API changes or authentication handshakes introduced in higher versions of HCX Manager.

HCX version 4.11 introduced API changes and stricter header requirements for authentication handshakes which is compatible with Aria Operations Management Pack for HCX 5.4.x

Resolution

 

To resolve this issue, upgrade the VMware Aria Management Pack for HCX to version 5.4 or later.

1. Download the VMware Aria Operations Management Pack for HCX 5.4 (or later) from the Broadcom Support Portal.
2. Login to Aria Operations User Interface.
3. Navigate to Data Sources > Integrations > Repository.
4. Click Add and then upload the downloaded .pak file.
5. If previous version of the management pack is already installed, select "Install the PAК file even if it is already installed" to overwrite the existing installation.
6. After the installation is complete, re-run the Test Connection to validate the configuration.
