When clicking on the update tab in vCenter the page returns white with the words: "No views."

Missing permissions for the user account.
You can test with the administrator account and find the update tab displays as expected.
Fix the permissions. The easiest method to fix would be to give the user the lifecycle manager administrator role, or the main administrator role in global permissions, but these roles can be applied at the cluster level as well.
