Issue/Introduction

  • An Edge cluster is deployed in vCenter with a tier 0 and used for VPC networking.
  • Later the tier 0 is removed and the an attempt was made to remove the Edge cluster in vCenter, but this fails, however the Edge node are removed in vCenter.
  • In NSX the Edge nodes are present under System, Fabric, Nodes and not attached to an Edge cluster.
  • There are alarms on the Edge node indicating:
    • Communication down to the Edge node.
    • Edge configuration found in NSX, but not present in vCenter.

Environment

VCF NSX 9.0.1

Resolution

Retry the Edge cluster deletion in vCenter:

  1. If this proceeds and the Edges remain in NSX, attempt to delete the Edge(s) in NSX.
  2. After a short period, it may fail and present a message, indicating to ensure the Edge has been removed from vCenter inventory
  3. Proceed to vCenter and confirm the Edge no longer exists in vCenter inventory.
  4. Then return to NSX and click the button to confirm it has been remove from vCenter and delete from NSX.

If the above steps fail and the Edge remains in vCenter or NSX, please open a support case with Broadcom NSX team.
