Issue/Introduction

Windows VM restarts unexpectedly with no ESXi host issues found and no other VMs are impacted.

Investigation has confirmed that is not a match of Virtual machine is rebooted unexpectedly

ESXi host logs /vmfs/volumes/<datastore>/<vm-name>/vmware.log 

yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ss.ffZ In(05) vcpu-0 - Chipset: The guest has requested that the virtual machine be hard reset.

Windows Event Viewer shows

System Information Log Level Event ID 1074 Reason Code 0x500006 the process wininit.exe has initiated the restart of computer <COMPUTER NAME> for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found

Comment: The system process 'C:\Windows\system32\lsass.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code -<STATUS CODE ID>. The system will now shut down and restart.

Resolution

This is an issue with the guest OS.  Engage Microsoft to investigate.
