Issue/Introduction

Some customers have GSS installed on their ITMS Site Servers, and then install the GSS Web Console on the same server.

The following errors may be noticed with that configuration:

HTTP error 503. The service is unavailable.

HTTP ERR log shows 503.1 errors:

01-28 16:06:12 ::1%0 61289 ::1%0 443 HTTP/2 GET /gss/server 1 - 503 1 AppOffline GSSWebConsole TCP

Environment

GSS 3.x

ITMS 8.x

Cause

Unsupported configuration

Resolution

Broadcom does not test with the GSS Console installed on a Site Server, and therefore, we do not support this situation.  Where both have IIS requirements, it may not be possible to run both.

There seems to be a conflict between IIS in the Package Server and the GSS Web Console.  The Default Website can only be set one way, and is used by both Package Services and GSS Web.

This issue is likely caused by the IISModule registered for the Site Server.  The GSSWebConsole App Pool has the enable32BitAppOnWin64 set to TRUE, allowing only 32-bit images to load, while the IISModule is built for 64-bit.  Event Viewer shows errors like:

The Module DLL 'C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\AeXIISExt.{B68C5AFB-F55D-479C-81EB-C39251AC25EE}.dll' could not be loaded due to a configuration problem. The current configuration only supports loading images built for an x86 processor architecture.

We don't test with GSS Web Console on a Package / Site Server, so we don't support it.
