NSX installation from SDDC Manager fails with: "Failed to realize transport node collection"

Issue/Introduction

During the installation of NSX from SDDC manager , the process fails at the subtask "Enable NSX Security by Configuring VLAN Backed NSX".

In the SDDC Manager UI, the task fails with the following error details:

• Message: Error in configuring VLAN backed transport node collections.

• Cause: com.vmware.evo.sddc.orchestrator.exceptions.OrchTaskException:Error in configuring VLAN backed transport node collections. Error in configuring VLAN backed transport node collections. Failed to realize transport node collection

 

Simultaneously, in the NSX Manager, the installation of NSX on the ESX host transport nodes fail with the error "install failed" at vLCM remediation initiated stage, upon clicking on view errors, the below error message is observed:

• "Failed to install software on host. Remediating hosts through vLCM failed with error: org.springframework.web.client.HttpServerErrorException$ServiceUnavailable 503 Service Unavailable: "no healthy upstream"

Cause

Application of Transport Node Profile by NSX Manager fails due to existing remediation issues on the  vSphere cluster that is being prepared for NSX.

While accessing vSphere UI-->Cluster-->Updates,  the following info message in seen "The cluster needs remediation to finish enabling these solutions: VMware NSX-T" 

 

Resolution

• Remediate the Cluster by clicking on REMEDIATE ALL (Ensure no VMs are running on the hosts in the cluster)
• If there are VMs on the hosts in the cluster, remediate the hosts individually by clicking on Actions->Remediate.
