When attempting to replace the SSL certificate for VMware Aria Operations for Networks (AON) via VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (ASL), the request fails.
The execution details in Aria Suite Lifecycle show the following exception: com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.common.exception.vcenter.VMWithNameIPAndHostNameNotFoundException: Failed to find a VA with ip : '<CATEGORY_REDACTED>', hostname : 'null'.
VMware Aria Operations for Networks (formerly vRealize Network Insight)
VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (formerly vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager)
This issue occurs when Aria Suite Lifecycle contains stale inventory data for the Aria Operations for Networks environment. This desynchronization happens due to the following sequence:
Node details, such as the IP address for a Collector node, are omitted during the initial configuration or certificate parameter definition.
The omitted node details are subsequently added or modified out-of-band.
The changes are not manually synchronized back to the Aria Suite Lifecycle inventory.
Consequently, ASL cannot correlate the expected appliance IP with a valid virtual machine object and hostname in vCenter during the certificate pre-check phase.
To resolve this issue, force an update of the internal database by synchronizing the environment:
Log in to the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle user interface.
Navigate to Lifecycle Operations > Environments.
Select the target Aria Operations for Networks environment.
Click Trigger Inventory Sync.
Monitor the request and wait for the inventory synchronization to complete successfully.
Retry the Aria Operations for Networks certificate replacement workflow.
Prior to triggering the inventory synchronization, ensure that VMware Tools is reporting as "Running" and displaying the correct IP address and hostname for all Aria Operations for Networks nodes within the vSphere Client (vCenter Server) inventory.
