Issue/Introduction

When attempting to install an Automation Folder on a managed computer via right click > advanced > install Automation Folder, no job is populated and no related status messages seen

Environment

GSS 3.3.x

Cause

Corrupt Automation Folder already exists or path to installer directory is incorrect. Issue may also be seen when custom paths are used to store an Automation Folder installer.

Resolution

When installing an Automation Folder via right-click > Advanced > Install Automation Folder, you will be prompted to select a Boot Disk Creator configuration to build an Automation Folder with. Once a config is selected, you should see the 'Status' for the computer change to 'Creating Windows Automation Folder package...' if one doesn't already exist in the default build location: <Install Dir>\Program Files (x86)\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server\AutoFolderPkgs\<Bootwiz Config name>\x64. If the default AutoFolderPkgs location doesn't exist or there is an existing corrupt AF package, you may not see the 'Status' change and in some cases the Automation Folder will never install.

To correct this issue, ensure the path exists up to 'AutoFolderPkgs'. If the folder exists, delete any Automation Folder installers with the same name as the config, then Right-click > Advanced > Install Automation Folder again. If the new AF package still doesn't build, you can manually create an Automation Folder installer in Boot Disk Creator by right-clicking on the config and selecting 'Create Automation Installer...'. Ensure the default path exists or save the installer to a different path. Once created, Install the Automation Folder manually or through a copy file task.
