While configuring the domain on vSAN FS getting an error as : "cannot Lookup DNS due to an IP address validation error"

Issue/Introduction

• While configuring the Domain on vSAN File Server getting an error:

" The operation is not allowed in the current state. Cannot create domain for the vSAN file service: Failed to get IP addresses of domain controllers through DNS server.

 

•    Also the below error message is observed while configure the domain on vSAN FS:

           

Environment

VMware vSAN OSA  8.0.3

Cause

• The issue stemmed from an incomplete configuration of VLAN ID on the physical network. This misconfiguration resulted in an upstream routing issue that specifically blocked DNS lookups. Without functional DNS resolution, the domain configuration process could not validate the endpoints.

Resolution

• From the customer end the network administrator has to correct  the routing configuration gaps on the physical network (specifically regarding VLAN ID). Restoring successful DNS lookup functionality will allow  the end user to complete the domain configuration.
