User may experience failures when recovering multiple VMs on the recovery SDDC after staging them during Ransomware Recovery.
The summary page of the recovery plan reports failure of the VM while recovering.
VMware Live Cyber Recovery 9.0.0.11
VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0.x
The failure is caused by a timing race condition between the VM power-on sequence and the NSX inventory update, specifically during the deletion of the isolation policy.
NSX requires a brief interval to "realize" or recognize the VM after it powers up (about 1-2 seconds). The deletion of the VM isolation policy is attempted by NSX during this interim and it fails.
The following steps should be performed manually to recover the failed VMs successfully on the recovery SDDC.
- Navigate to the failed VM in the VCDR console.
- Select "Cancel and Back to Staging."
- Initiate the "Recover VM" action again for the individual VM.
- It is recommended to perform the above workaround on the failed VMs one after the other.
This issue is fixed in an upcoming release with a retry loop for the isolation policy deletion step.
This issue is only observed while the user performs Ransomware Recovery for the plan with recovery to “Recovery SDDC” after staging the VMs.
