Issue/Introduction

  • When trying to deploy a vApp through a vApp template on a catalog, it fails during network selection with error "Specified parent network VMNET-###.###.##(com.vmware.vcloud.entity.network:uuid) is invalid. Either it is inaccessible in the VDC or it is not part of the correct organization".
  • You are able to view the required network in the OrgVDC level.
  • The network can be assigned to a VM deployed a new vApp, with no errors. Only deploying a vApp through a template fails.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

  • Issue happens when there are multiple VCs managed by the same NSX manager which are part of the same VCD.
  • When vCD tries pulling data from vCenter, certain entities like VDC is updated with corresponding vCenter details.
  • Every network also carries the VC information as to what it is present on. In multiple VC case, there should be multiple entries mapping network to VC table. But in this case, only one entry is getting persisted. And when vCD tries adding the network, it assumes we are adding network from different VC not valid for this particular VDC.
