Issue/Introduction

Certain health reports may show a certain entry named "cs.registery" as a duplicate entry yet vCenter is not having any issues.

Resolution

In most scenarios, the cs.registry endpoint can be safely ignored if it is flagged as a duplicate entry in a diagnostic report. Updated versions of the vCenter Diagnostics Tool (VDT), as referenced in KB 413546, have been optimized to filter out these false positives when the vCenter Server is otherwise healthy.

If you prefer to clear these entries from future reports to ensure a "clean" diagnostic state, you can utilize the lsdoctor tool. Using the -r (reconstruct) option allows you to target and remove specific stale registrations.

Resolution Steps:

  1. Ensure a valid file-level backup or an offline snapshot of the vCenter Server (and all nodes in the SSO domain) exists.

  2. Run the lsdoctor tool with the reconstruct flag: python lsdoctor.py -r

  3. Select Option 3 from the menu.

  4. When prompted to select the service to recreate, select cs.registry.
